Who can apply for these PPSC posts?
Each post has its own conditions, but these are the filters that decide most applications:
Education
Clerical posts such as Junior Clerk (BS-11) and Office Assistant usually need intermediate with a typing speed requirement. Assistant (BS-16), Office Assistant (BS-16) and officer posts generally need a second-division graduation; technical posts such as Water Management Officer (BS-17) need a relevant agriculture/engineering degree.
Age limits
Most posts advertise an 18–25 or 21–30 band plus general relaxation (5 years male, 8 years female in Punjab). Transport, inspection and municipal posts often use a wider band. Check the exact figures printed with your case number.
Domicile & quota
Punjab domicile is required. Some posts (for example Assistant BS-16 at a Deputy Commissioner office) are restricted to a single district. Quotas for women, minorities and special persons are listed post-wise.
Skill tests
Clerk, stenotypist and transport posts can include typing, shorthand or a practical/driving test. Inspection and patrol posts may include a physical standard. Confirm this before you plan your preparation.
How the selection works
Same backbone for almost every PPSC post in this advertisement.
Choose the right post
Read the advertisement post-wise. Apply only where you meet the qualification, age and domicile conditions on the closing date — PPSC rejects applications at scrutiny, and the fee is not refunded.
Online application + fee
Create or log in to your PPSC online account, complete the form, upload documents, print the challan and deposit the test fee at the prescribed bank before the deadline.
One-paper written test
A single MCQ paper (typically 100 questions in 90 minutes) covering general ability, English, Pakistan studies, Islamiat, current affairs, basic maths/IT and post-related professional knowledge.
Skill / practical test where applicable
Typing and shorthand for clerical posts; driving or vehicle-fitness knowledge for transport posts; departmental practicals for technical posts.
Interview and final merit
Shortlisted candidates are interviewed by a PPSC board. Final merit combines the written score with the interview, as stated in the advertisement.
One-paper MCQ pattern — what to expect
PPSC uses a common general-ability core, then adds a professional part matched to the post.
Analytical reasoning, series, ratios, percentages, basic arithmetic and data interpretation.
Grammar, prepositions, synonyms/antonyms, active-passive, sentence correction and short comprehension.
Pakistan movement, constitution, geography, institutions; Islamiat basics as prescribed.
Last 12–18 months of national and international events, economy, sports; basic physics, chemistry, biology, health and computers.
Office procedure and computer skills for clerical/assistant posts; water management, irrigation and agronomy for Water Management Officer; motor vehicle laws, route permits and transport rules for transport posts; local government laws and municipal administration for Municipal Officer; audit, accounting and financial rules for finance posts.
How to prepare in 6–8 weeks
Applications close in early September, so the plan has to be tight.
Fix the general core first
General ability, English and Pakistan studies repeat across every PPSC post. Clearing this core once means you can apply to several posts in the same cycle without starting from zero.
Daily current affairs (20 min)
Keep one page of theme-wise notes: economy, CPEC and energy, education, foreign relations, appointments, sports and major disasters. Revise weekly rather than reading endlessly.
Learn your professional part
Pick the 40–60 concepts most likely to be asked for your post: irrigation and water-course design, motor vehicle ordinance and route permits, local government act and municipal functions, or office procedure and accounting rules.
Solve past PPSC papers
One-paper questions recycle heavily. Work through recent PPSC one-paper papers for similar scales (BS-11, BS-14, BS-16, BS-17) and log every wrong answer.
Train for 100 questions in 90 minutes
That is roughly 54 seconds per question. Do at least six full-length timed mocks so you learn when to mark, skip and come back.
Do not skip typing / practical
If your post needs 30–40 wpm typing or shorthand, practise daily from week one. Candidates frequently clear the MCQ paper and then lose the post at the skill test.

Frequently asked questions
What is the last date to apply for PPSC Advertisement 08/2026?
The advertisement was published on 18 August 2026 and online applications are accepted until 3 September 2026. Deposit the fee challan before the closing date and confirm the date on ppsc.gop.pk, as PPSC occasionally extends it.
How many posts are in PPSC Ad 08/2026?
Around 498 vacancies across departments including the Board of Revenue, Punjab Provincial Transport Authority, Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Agriculture, Livestock, Local Government, Punjab Food Authority and the Chief Minister's Inspection Team.
What is the qualification for Junior Clerk BS-11 in this advertisement?
Clerical posts normally require intermediate (second division) plus a computer typing speed, with the exact speed and any diploma requirement printed with the case number. A typing test is held in addition to the MCQ paper.
What does the Assistant BS-16 test cover?
A one-paper MCQ test of general ability, English, Pakistan studies, Islamiat, current affairs, everyday science, basic mathematics and computer/office knowledge. Some Assistant posts are restricted to a single district's domicile.
How do I prepare for Water Management Officer BS-17?
Cover the professional part — irrigation systems, water-course improvement, on-farm water management, soil and crop water requirements, and relevant Punjab schemes — alongside the general ability and current-affairs core.
Is there negative marking in PPSC one-paper tests?
PPSC states the marking scheme in each advertisement. Where negative marking applies, avoid blind guessing and only attempt questions where you can eliminate at least one option.
Can I apply for more than one post in the same advertisement?
Yes, if you meet the eligibility for each post and submit a separate application and fee for each. Check the advertisement for any restriction on overlapping test dates.
Do transport posts have a physical test?
Some enforcement posts such as Transport Sub Inspector and Motor Mobile Patrol Inspector include physical standards or a driving/practical requirement. The condition is printed with the post.
How much time do I need to prepare?
Six to eight weeks is workable if you study daily: three weeks on the general core, two weeks on the professional part, and the rest on past papers and full-length timed mocks.
Where do I find the official syllabus for my post?
Every PPSC post lists its syllabus under its case number in the advertisement PDF on ppsc.gop.pk. Treat that page as your checklist rather than relying on unofficial summaries.
Are past PPSC papers useful for these posts?
Very. The general-ability, English, Islamiat and Pakistan-studies portions recycle heavily across one-paper tests, so solving papers from similar scales is the fastest way to raise your score.
What if my application is rejected at scrutiny?
PPSC rejects applications that do not meet the printed qualification, age or domicile conditions on the closing date, and the fee is not refunded. Verify every condition against your documents before paying.
