One of the key points in the PAF requirements for the PAF GD Pilot course is eyesight. As per the PAF requirements, a candidate’s eyesight must be 6/6 for both eyes. However, in today’s era where constant phone and computer usage is the norm, the chances of our eyesight being adversely affected have increased. It is vital that aspirants for the PAF take good care of their eyesight, if they wish to fulfill their dreams.
For the same purpose, here’s a list of things that you can do to improving your eyesight for meeting the PAF requirements:
Regularly participating in physical exercise helps to keep the body in top condition, including your eyesight. The circulation of blood and oxygen flow to the eyes gets better due to exercise, making sure they are in top working conditions.
As if you needed another reason to practice good hygiene! Well, as it turns out, if you want to take care of your eyesight and make sure to meet the PAF requirements, you have to take care of your hygiene. Make it a habit to always wash your hands before touching your eyes. This helps to decrease any risk of eye infection
Regularly visiting the doctor to get your health checked even if you’re feeling normal is not a common practice in Pakistan. However, if you’re someone who’s aspiring to meet the PAF requirements and become a pilot one day, you should make this a habit of yours. Getting your eyesight checked at regular intervals (after every few months, for example) is the best way to make sure that your eyesight does not have any issues. It makes sure that any potential problems/diseases are detected and treated early, avoiding any long-term damage to the eyes.
Don’t worry, your elders may tell you that getting rid of your phone is the solution to all your problems, but that’s not what we’re here to tell you! We realize that phones, computers, and the internet are an integral part of all our lives now, and therefore, any suggestion for taking care of your eyesight has to be made keeping in mind the practical realities of our time. Which is why we recommend practicing the 20-20-20 rule. In this, you take a break and look away from the screen at something that is 20 feet away, after every 20 minutes, for 20 seconds. This helps to give your eyes some rest and decrease the fatigue and eye strain caused by staring at screens for long periods of time.
Eating a healthy diet also greatly helps the eyesight. Eating leafy green vegetables, carrots, and getting a good intake of vitamins A, C, and E helps to improve eyesight.
The above advice is useful even if you're not aiming to become a fighter pilot, and are simply looking to prepare for other career streams, such as PAF Aeronautical engineering, because a healthy eyesight is conducive to a healthy lifestyle in general.
Having a sharp and healthy eyesight (along with a healthy and fit body) will make sure that you meet the PAF requirements and are ready to take on the adventurous life of a fighter pilot!
Since a lot of the students in Pakistan are not exposed to intelligence questions during their FA/FSc days, they are not as familiarized with the subject as they are with others, such as English or Science subjects. In order to familiarize themselves with the questions in the PAF Intelligence Test and learn some useful tips on how to improve their chances of success in this portion of the PAF GD Pilot Initial Test, students may refer to the following:
Similar to other subjects, questions in the PAF Intelligence Test have their own set of terminologies which students must familiarize themselves with in order to get a better grasp on the subject. Terms such analogy, odd one out, inference etc. are concepts which students must learn in order to improve their command over Intelligence questions. These concepts are extensively covered in this course as well as our PAF Aeronautical Engineering preparation course.
As students go through our course and the extensive questions offered therein, they’ll become familiarized with such concepts. This will not only help them to differentiate between questions belonging to one topic or another, but it will also help them navigate better through the course as a whole.
Students are advised to inculcate some basic analytical values before tackling PAF Intelligence Test. Values such as interpreting i.e. seeking patterns, or inferring i.e. forming conclusions based on available evidence or reasoning, or, most importantly, critical thinking i.e. the ability to question things and not take them at face value, are all absolutely essential. Inculcating these and similar values in your thinking habits is vital to achieving success in the PAF Intelligence Test.
The PAF Intelligence Test's questions at their core are a test of the mind. In order to ace this section, your mind has to be at is sharpest. In order to keep the mind sharp, try to play games, such as crossword puzzles or chess, which test the mental faculties of individuals. In addition, a healthy mind and healthy body go hand in hand. Therefore, exercise regularly and be mindful of your sleeping patterns in order to keep your mind in peak condition.
Although this is related to the previous point, but its importance merits that it be discussed separately. All questions in the PAF Intelligence Test require you to be able to maintain your focus and attention for long periods of time. This is necessary to follow the arguments presented in questions, or to make inferences and deductions/inductions etc. In order to improve your attention span, you must practice as much as you can. The wide variety of questions offered in this course will enable the candidate to constantly be on their toes and improve their focus and attention
