AMC Admissions: Steps in the Selection Procedure

Thousands of aspirants apply for admission in Army Medical Colleges throughout Pakistan. Although the basic process is more or less the same if you’re preparing to join Pak Navy, Pak Army, or Pak Air Force, some confusions still remain in the mind of candidates. Mentioned below are the steps you’ll need to clear for AMC admissions.

Step 1A: Online registration for AMC Admissions

The very first step for AMC admissions is registration. For online registration, you can register through www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk (during June, July), where you’ll fill out an online form. The form will ask for biographical details, as well as other details such as priority list of AMCs in different cities.

A date and time for the test will be communicated to you via your email account, and you’ll need to bring important documents along with you at the test center (the list of documents is mentioned on official advertisements). You’ll also have to pay prospectus fee on the test day.

Step 1B: Registration at Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (AS&RCs)

Another registration method for AMC admissions is by visiting the nearest AS&RCs. You’ll need to bring your required documents and fee to the center to clear the procedure. The same document will have to be brought on the test day as well.

Step 2: Written Test for AMC Admissions

The next step you’ll need to clear for AMC admissions is the written test. The test will be entirely based on MCQs. It’ll have an intelligence portion, which will have questions related to verbal and nonverbal intelligence. And the other is the academic portion which will have questions from English, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.

Step 3: Physical & Medical Test

If you successfully clear the written test, the next step is the physical test. This involves clearing the following hurdles,

• 1.6 km run in 9 minutes
• 15 push-ups in 2 minutes
• 20 sit-ups in 2 minutes
• 3 chin-ups in 2 minutes
• Crossing a ditch which is 7 feet four inches wide and 4 feet deep

After clearing this, you’ll go through an initial medical test at one of the AS&RCs.

Step 4: Personality Test & Interview  

The next step for AMC admissions is the intelligence/personality test. This is more of an assessment, where your personality will be assessed through psychological testing. In addition, interviews will also be conducted. This test and interview shall be conducted by the GHQ selection board at AMC, Rawalpindi (you’ll get a call up for this as well as it being notified on the website).

Step 5: Final Medical Examination & Selection

The last step for AMC admission is the final medical examination. If you clear all previous steps successfully and are recommended, you’ll have to go through a final medical examination at your nearest CMH. If you successfully clear this examination, then all that’s left is the final selection by the GHQ, which will be based on your overall performance.
