How to Join Islamabad Police as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI)
Assistant Sub-Inspector is a uniformed supervisory rank in Islamabad Capital Territory Police. This guide sets out the eligibility, physical standards and selection stages recorded in the most recent official ICT Police recruitment notice, and separates what is confirmed from what changes with every campaign.
The eligibility, fee and deadline below come from the ICT Police recruitment drive that closed on 8 July 2026. They describe that campaign, not an open vacancy. Before you apply, open the current notice on the ICT Police website and follow only the figures printed there.
Understanding the role
An Assistant Sub-Inspector supervises frontline policing work in the federal capital — station duties, investigation support and public-order deployment. The most recent recruitment notice reviewed lists the post as **ASI (BS-11)**, as published by [ICT Police](https://islamabadpolice.gov.pk/).
Eligibility in the last verified notice
These requirements are taken from the notice that closed on 8 July 2026 and applied to that drive:
- **Education:** BA/BSc or equivalent.
- **Age:** 18–25 years for fresh candidates. A higher limit applied only to candidates covered by a named Islamabad High Court order from the 2024 recruitment — it was not a general relaxation.
- **Who could apply:** male and female Pakistani nationals, with seats split by the quotas printed in the notice.
- **Height:** 5 ft 7 in for men, 5 ft 2 in for women.
- **Chest:** 33 x 34½ in for men, with no relaxation in height or chest.
- **Endurance run:** one mile in 7 minutes for men and one mile in 10 minutes for women.
An earlier version of this article listed a female endurance test of 1.5 miles in 1.5 minutes. That figure was impossible and has been replaced with the official 2026 standard above.
The selection process
The sequence published for the 2026 drive was:
- Online application and fee payment.
- Physical measurement and endurance test.
- Computer-based or written test.
- Interview with document verification.
- Final medical examination by the Federal Government Civil Surgeon or a medical board.
The notice did not publish a subject-by-subject written syllabus, so this guide does not invent one. Prepare general English, mathematics, general knowledge and reasoning, and switch to the official syllabus as soon as one is issued for the live campaign.
How applications were submitted
Applications were accepted online through ICT Police and NPF Testing & Assessment Services. Applications by hand, courier or email were not accepted. The fee for that closed drive was Rs 2,000 per post, paid through the channels listed in the notice.

Documents and preparation
Keep original identity, domicile and academic records ready for verification, and take the quota evidence list from the live advertisement rather than from any guide. Train for both the endurance run and a written or computer-based paper, building running fitness gradually rather than in the final week.
